What Our Community Members Say
“UCAL made Liverpool feel like home.” When my family arrived in Liverpool, we did not know many people or understand how to access local services. Through UCAL, we met other Ugandan families who welcomed us warmly and helped us settle into the community. We attended family events, received guidance on schools and GP registration, and joined parenting workshops that explained how the UK education and safeguarding systems work. Today, we feel much more confident and connected. Our children have made new friends, and we have built a support network that we can rely on. UCAL has truly made a positive difference to our family’s life. — Community Member, Liverpool.
“UCAL gave me the confidence to give back.” I first attended a UCAL community event simply to meet new people. I was immediately welcomed and encouraged to get involved in volunteering. Through the organisation’s workshops and cultural activities, I developed new leadership and communication skills while learning more about community projects in Liverpool. Volunteering with UCAL has helped me grow in confidence, expand my network, and contribute to supporting other families who are new to the UK. It has been rewarding to be part of an organisation that values inclusion, culture, and community wellbeing.
